Solid Work Tutorial No.4

 

How To to Fully Define Your Sketch / How to give smart Dimension

 Please follow the following steps

  • Draw any sketch as shown in Tutorial No .3.
  • For Example we are defining are give dimension to a Square which we have sketched in Tutorial No.3

Method No.1



  • Click on the Sketch.


  • Click on the Smart Dimension. 


  • A small window will be open as shown in the figure.


  • Click on the Smart Dimension.


  • Now you are ready to define your sketch. For example I want to define the upper horizontal line so just place the mouse cursor  on the line it color will be orange it mean that you can select the line.


  • Now click on the line and drag the mouse upward and leave the mouse button.


  • A small window will be open.


  • If you want to change the line dimension so write the dimension in the box as shown in the figure. 


  • Now Click on the Tick mark, your line will be defined.


  • Now use the same method to define the vertical line but remember that the line must be define one time. It doesn't matter but it look bad. 


  • Click on the Tick mark your vertical line will also defined.


  • For a square two dimensions are enough (Length & Width) but here you can see that all the line are blue it means that the line not defined yet so don't worry just define the lines from the origin.


  • Click on any Horizontal line.


  • Drag it toward the center and leave the bouton. It is now continue, Now drag the line line left or right it is your choice.


  • For Example I drag the line toward left and now leave the button.


  • Now you can see that the upper and lower line become black it mean that these line are defined. And the vertical line are not fully defined as shown in the figure.




  • Click on any Vertical line.


  • Drag it toward the center and leave the bouton. It is now continue, Now drag the line line Up or Down it is your choice.





  • Now you can see that all the lines are black it means that your sketch is fully defined. 


  • You can also see here that your sketch is fully defined.


Method No.2

  • This method is vey easy to define your sketch.

  • Right click on the sketch. A small window will be open.


  • Click on the Fully define sketch.


  • Now click on the Tick Mark as shown in the both corner click on any one.





  • Now you can see that all the lines are black it means that your sketch is fully defined. 



  • You can also see here that your sketch is fully defined.
